World Series Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51 million watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB reported this represents the most-watched Fall Classic finale after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game drew 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the total US average was 16.1 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise over last year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
