The star has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the MVT, which functions to protect the UK's independent live music spots.

The star was awarded the cheque on October 16 as his new release the album was declared the top album of the last 12 months.

Fender has chosen to donate the funds to the MVT, in recognition of the crucial part small stages had in his beginning days.

"I wouldn't be doing this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the North East, and further afield, when I was beginning," remarked the artist. "These locations are iconic, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have shut down – roughly one-sixth of the total UK scene.

In the last year, well-known musicians including Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to support the industry, by including a modest fee to their admission fees, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

He also participated, generating more than £100,000 on his live tour to help 38 local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds helped spaces that were dealing with possible closure due to challenges arising from flooding, blazes and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and noise complaints.

Other venues received financial assistance in modernizing infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and concertgoers.

"The notion that funds from performances in major spaces supports the local stages, where it begins for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

The musician is not the first artist to give his honor prize money to worthy causes.

In Pulp earned the award in the mid-90s for their record their work, vocalist Jarvis Cocker announced that the act would give their cash to the non-profit War Child.

That year, artist she split her prize across a few organizations, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I contributed a grand to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they required updated gear," the artist told a publication.

Previously, they contributed their prize money to the local youth club that nurtured their act, as well as other local music groups.

Also the 1994 recipients they donated their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," stated vocalist the singer. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't require the extra, because we had the honor. So our victory affected somebody else's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust announced it had saved several grassroots venues in south-east England, by bringing them into community ownership.

The Joiners in Southampton and the second in the city were acquired under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is funded by a national body and music fans who buy "shares" in the buildings.
